Did you know? Galway GAA took its much- loved maroon and white from
the team colours of our University’s football team in 1934. Before that they played in green and white. The University famously won a record 8 out of 9 Sigerson Cups between 1933 and 1942. University of Galway have won All-Irelands in: Athletics, Judo, Rowing, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Cricket, Hockey, and Women’s Rugby. Our students have represented Ireland or Irish University teams in 10 different sports : Athletics, Rowing, Golf, Volleyball, Freestyle Kayak, Basketball, Lacrosse, Frisbee, Rugby and Soccer.
