Recycled Materials Berghaus have been using recycled materials in their products since the 70’s when their new Yeti gaiter, which incorporated old tractor inner tubes and set a new standard in foot protection.

Bluesign Pioneers Berghaus were the first British brand to join the bluesign system. If a product contains more than 90% bluesign approved fabrics it will achieve the MADEKIND ™ label.

Performance gear that’s kinder to the planet. Products marked with the MADEKIND ™ label are eco-friendly and could contain recycled material, organic cotton, bio-based material from natural sources, or because they’re made by one of the brand’s sustainable partners.

Responsible Down Standard In 2014, they launched the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) in partnership with Textile Exchange, a global non-profit dedicated to sustainability in the apparel and textile industry, and Control Union Certifications.

Recycled Materials TNF aims to use 100% responsibly sourced fabrics by 2025. They are reducing the amount of recycled plastic in polyester fabric, as well as helping to reduce dependence on fossil fuels by reusing those materials already in existence.

Packaging & Materials TNF aims to eliminate single-use plastic packaging by 2025 and only use recycled content for all their paper materials, like hangtags and cardboard shipping boxes.

Responsible Wool More than 80% of wool TNF used in FY2020 was responsibly sourced, coming from either recycled or certified (including ZQ or RWS) sources. This figure is increasing year on year.

Conservation Projects TNF co-founds The Outdoor Industry Conservation Alliance with REI, Patagonia and Kelty. The group distributes its collective annual membership dues to grassroots organisations working to protect North America’s last wild places.

Green Buildings TNF uses Green buildings to enable control of heating, air conditioning and lighting, along with access to green space and other key features. They have committed to utilising 100% renewable energy across their facilities by 2025.

Scale Circularity TNF have three specific programs designed to help combat waste and extend the life of their products through their Limited Lifetime Warranty program, Renewed Collection, and Clothes the Loop programs.

Work in Tandem TNF are committed to working with suppliers to help reduce their environmental footprint. They’re partnering with retailers who share both their mission and values. These efforts will have positive impacts on the industry overall.

P.U.R.E. Recycled Down In 2019, Rab introduced the world’s first Global Recycled Standard certified down and were an early adopter of the Responsible Down Standard. P.U.R.E. recycled down uses fewer resources to produce than virgin down, and prevents unnecessary waste.

Recycled Synthetic Insulation For AW20, Rab introduced PrimaLoft ® Silver Insulation Luxe TM into their range. It uses post-consumer recycled materials to create high performance synthetic insulation that mimics down.

Recycled Fabrics Rab is swapping to recycled fibres where possible. In partnership with brands like Pertex ® and GORE-TEX ® , Rab is developing fabrics containing varying levels of recycled content that still perform to the highest level.

Minimising Harmful Chemicals Environmental harming Fluorocarbons are used in the outdoor industry to make DWRs. Rab is working to find a replacement that allows their products to perform to the highest standards.

Green Offices Rab are into their third year as a Climate Neutral Company and have set an aim to be Net Zero by 2030. They operate on 100% renewable electricity in their UK owned facilities.

Fair & Humane Animal Welfare Rab only works with suppliers who source animal by-products from entities that use fair and humane animal welfare practices.

Minimising waste Samples, repaired returns, discontinued fabrics, overstocked, or other unsaleable products are either: Resold in retail outlets, repurposed into new items, donated to charities, used for spare parts or disassembled for education/research.

Eco Packaging & Materials Rab uses 50% recycled material polybags and have swapped to paper/cardboard packaging made from 100% recycled, sustainably sourced materials. They have reduced hangtag materials by 79% through introducing a QR code.

Animal Welfare Helly Hansen only source from producers who follow best practices of animal welfare.. Since 2018, 100% of their down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified, and in 2019, they phased out all leather from their apparel.

Eco-Friendly Packaging Helly Hansen use 100% recycled content in all of their polyethylene bags and all hangtags are made from FSC certified paper.

Recycled materials Almost all Helly Hansen’s non-woven insulations contain 80% post-consumer recycled polyester. They have also managed to replace around 70% of fleece fabrics with recycled content.
